Jacob Billings, Area Food and Beverage Manager for CAMBRiA Summerville and Mount Pleasant, proposed the initial idea for meal prep and distribution after inventory of multiple items no longer able to go towards their intended purpose. Our CAMBRiA Summerville and CAMBRiA Mount Pleasant teams worked dilligently to come up with the best possible ways to serve the local community that could still abide by health and safety regulations as well as social distancing restrictions.
That's where Feeding Our Heroes SC came in. Through leveraging already established pipelines, we were able to provide lunch to healthcare workers at Trident Health Medical Center and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital.
Port City Paper also donated to-go styrofoam containers and cutlery kits to package and serve meals in.
Jacob and multiple other CAMBRiA and area staff, including General Manager of CAMBRiA Summerville, Ayanna Little, Senior Sales Manager of Summerville / Mt Pleasant, Bridget Bowis, Area Senior Director of Sales and Marketing, Kate Neville, and Area Food & Beverage Director, Justin Moss, worked tirelessly to not only cook and plate meals, but also deliver to both hospital locations.
Feeding Our Heroes SC was founded by a group of mothers in Mount Pleasant who are committed to helping the Food and Beverage industry as well as the front line medical community. They accomplish their work by fundraising to purchase meals from local vendors and feeding hospital staff and administration in the Charleston area daily.
